TODAY'S SESSION Ethan & Chase

Oh boy, Ethan came to visit me today with his new brother, Chase!   Check out the eyes on this little guy.  He's going to be a heart breaker.  They were both so cute.  Here are a few of my faves!

BRYANNE & DUSTIN'S ENGAGEMENT SESSION

I had the pleasure of photographing Bryanne & Dustin on Wednesday.   They are getting hitched in November!    We started in downtown Chilliwack and then went to Bryanne's parent's place which backs onto the Hope River. I also managed to grab a few shots of  Bryanne & Dustin's sweet 4 year old daughter while we were there.  In the last shot - I swear Bryanne looks exactly like Brooke Shields (the younger version).  Is it just me??

   

MORE BABY LOVE...

Kari and Curtis and their new addition Autumn.  Kari and I have lots of history!  I photographed Kari's wedding 3 years ago, then her maternity, and now their beautiful new baby girl and she's worked as my assistant learning photography for the last couple of years too!  It's been sooo fun!!  I remember when she was "thinking" about having babies... of course I had lots of advice....    You guys have such a beautiful family!  Hugs and kisses!! 

CALIFORNIA HERE I COME..

Actually, I'm heading to Kelowna, but hopefully it will be hot and sunny like Cali.  I'm preparing for my family sessions that will be taking place in Westbank this weekend - very excited!!  I spent the entire weekend at the baseball diamonds so I'm a bit behind.... Nothing like 7 hours on a hot sunny Saturday when you should be cutting your grass....  I'm not the most sports minded person so I JUST DON'T GET IT!!   I like to make my own fun thanks!!   Anyway, here are some pics of my girls in their uniforms....playing baseball. 

SUPER HAPPY BABY!!

My newest little friend!!  I just love new little friends!!   Tucker is the new Cover Baby for the much anticipated first edition of BAMBINO MAGAZINE which is a Valley Version of Urban Baby!!  I am so excited to be the exclusive photographer for Bambino for their covers and editorials. The editor, Rebecca Miller is an advocate for all that is good in the world of babies, kids & motherhood!!  An amazing writer and a phenomenal mom, she's going to take the Valley by storm providing us with the latest and greatest in advice & education as well as the hottest products & services such as having your kids photographed by Kim Mallory Photography  (heehee). 

 

FAMILY FIRST

Here are some recent photos of a very sweet family that I just LOVE!  My girls helped me throughout this session, which they will often do when I have a toddler & a baby together!  Nothing works better when a toddler says "no" than bringing down either a kid, a cat or a dog.  Excellent distractions.  Cause the whole trick is to make it fun right?   If they don't want their picture taken, it's not fun!!  I didn't realize until today what an amazing assistant Nicole is turning into!    Now, with these sessions especially, you're not going to get the family photo with everyone smiling nicely into the camera - not with me anyway!!  Hey!  This is all about being real!  Oh, I've got some photos with everyone looking at the camera, but this family photo is the fun one!

A BEAUTIFUL BABY..

Aren't they all though??  This is a session that I did a week ago.  A five month old baby & her big sister whom we shot when she was just fresh out of the oven a few years ago!!!!  My time flies when these little ones come back all grown up!! sniff, sniff....   anyway... the focus was on baby, but we did spend some time getting the two of them together as well for a very well rounded session!  And it was lotsa fun as you can see!!

A SWEET LITTLE ANGEL BABY

I just finished a newborn session!  I must say, I'm getting quick with posting images on the blog...  I just couldn't wait to play with this one!   This would look amazing blown up HUGE and printed on a canvas....  that's just my vision of course.  A 5x7 would look nice too!  heehee.

BACK AT IT!

Happy Easter Everybody!!  I love Easter, because it means that spring is coming!!  I think it's officially here now isn't it??  YAY!   I did an outdoor session yesterday and it was hailing, raining - we might have seen the sun for a minute or two but despite the crazy B.C. weather, we did get some great shots!

And WHO can resist catching hail on their tongue???

I love this shot!  It just totally tells a story!  Lots of fun & good energy here!

THIS MADE ME LAUGH

Just going through a baby session that I did with Carter yesterday.  He was a happy baby!!  Lot's of Six Month old babies lately.  Love, love, love this age!   This picture made me laugh!   He was trying to grab my camera strap and he did get a hold of it. 

THE VINTAGE COLLECTION

This is my latest creation.  It's an 11x14 canvas which will become a beautiful heirloom for their mom.  Our kids grow up soooo fast... With my own children, I feel the need to savour every moment. As my kids grow I think, ahhh, they look the same as they did a year ago - until I start to compare photos.... I've started a little late, but the last several years, I've made a point of getting really beautiful portraits of them. (this isn't an easy task even for a photographer). As my gallery grows, I am sooo thankful to have those photos from the years gone by.... I only wish I had more from when they were babies.... I was just too darn busy being a mom I guess....

THE NEXT GERBER BABY!

I had a wonderful family come in last week.   I'll post the baby first.   I absolutely love this age.   The babies are just sitting up and with their new perspective of the world they are just soooo happy!!  I'm pretty sure this is one of the happiest babies I've had the pleasure of photographing! She is just a doll!

Where have I been??

Busy!!  Handling the busiest month of shooting I think I've ever had!!  A huge range of jobs to keep me excited and inspired which is SO cool!   AND a GREAT bunch of people that I've had the pleasure of working with.  I just love meeting new people!!   Here's some samplings of some stuff I've been working on!

This is Finn! Isn't he CUTE!!   The newest edition to one of my favorite families whom I've had the pleasure of shooting for since their first pregnancy 3 years ago.  Finn has soft long dark hair.... 

This is Duncan, Finn's brother - he's three years old.

He love's coming over for photos because my girls play with him when we need to entertain him while we're shooting.   During this photoshoot he was asking:  "Where are my girlfriends?"   

This is a job that I shot for Sotheby's International Realty, and I made the fire myself.  It took awhile with no newspaper...but we worked it!!  That roaring fire took place on a nice hot summer's day..

A Story to Tell

My Baby Niece

I think I have about 1000 photos of this little baby.   She was born June 29th, so this was taken last summer.   The baby stage flies by.... so we're milking this one for all it's worth!

When do I have my baby photographed?     How do I prepare? 
Is it going to be stressful?

Fear not new moms!  It's not that hard!  In fact, it can be quite a pleasurable experience, (if you pick the right photographer).  The first year of your baby's life is going to fly by and it's important to document these amazing changes as they happen.  Start with simply marking your calendar with a reminder to have your baby photographed at key times in that first year and contact me to pre book your sessions.  Take advantage of the discounts of the "Babies First Year" plan. 

The stages of a baby's first year are typically photographed at Newborn, 3-4 months, 6-7 months, 9-10 months & baby's 1st Birthday.  From the "was that a smile?" stage, to the unmistakeable squeal of delight, you will be absolutely amazed at the changes your baby will experience from newborn to one year and thrilled ot see them in photographs!  Here is some advice:

• Photo sessions involving babies and children may take anywhere from one to two hours to allow time for breaks and feeding.
• When making your appointments consider the best time for your baby and the time of day that they are the least fussy, in most cases we will happily reschedule if your baby is sick or too fussy for the session.
• Take advantage of the worry free "nudio" sessions that capture all of the beautiful little parts from their ears to their toes, without having to worry about coordinating outfits!   Bring a favorite blanket!
• To personalize your pictures bring in any little props such as stuffed animals, small chairs or a special toy.
• No need to worry about shoes!  Bare feet are so precious at this age and photograph better than the bottom of a shoe!

To realize the significance of this time and to have these precious images of your children to look back on is something you will never regret.  Time passes us by all too quietly so prepare to plan ahead....  you'll be glad you did!
